Congratulations! If you’re reading this, then you have been randomly selected to put a trans girl in your current writing project as either the protagonist or the love interest! Failure to comply will result in death.
everybody who replies to this like “ohhh i can’t do that, my main character/love interest is a boy” yeah. once upon a time so was i. that’s kind of the operative concept here. “my character is a boy” is not an excuse to not make them transfeminine, it’s step one of making them transfeminine 💁♀️
look i don’t wanna be an asshole but this attitude is exactly what this post is written to be a criticism of. this does not count. this is not representation. this is even lower than tokenism, and trans girls will treat you like a joke if you say shit like this.
you cannot pat yourself on the back and smugly say, “well i never say she isn’t trans” as if anybody is stopping you from doing that in the first place. you’re a goddamn writer. put some fucking words together and make it happen.
I headcanon characters as trans women all the time myself. I’m doing this precisely because there is too little trans women representation otherwise. This is the direct consequence of the writers who think that doing this is acceptable.
You’re the part of the problem.
(not the trans woman I’m reblogging this from, who writes stories featuring trans women, but the person from the tags)
